Job summary

Bellefonte Area School District is seeking a Cafeteria Floater at Bellefonte Area High School to support the Food Service Department. This is a 5-hour/day, 180-day position with assignments across locations as needed and adherence to daily cleanup schedules.

Required is a High School Diploma/GED with prior food service experience; six months cashier experience is preferred. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in a school cafeteria environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services.

  • Work Year: 180 days/year; 9-month position; 3 paid holidays

Position Overview

To assist in cafeteria services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in floating capacity with daily assignments coordinated through the food services department according to location needs.
  • Follow the cafeteria clean-up schedule after meal service.
  • Maintain assigned work station cleanliness and restock.
  • Follow established procedures for food preparation, service, and cleaning-sanitization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services.
Education Requirements
  • Minimum: High School Diploma/GED
Experience Requirements
Minimum
  • Prior experience in food service operations
Preferred
  • Six months experience as a cashier preferred
Certifications & Licenses
Required
  • None
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percentages.
Language Skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate to school administration, co-workers and students.
OTHER SKILLS And ABILITIES
  • Good moral character.
  • Effective communication skills.
Physical Demands
  • The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Able to hear with 40 decibel loss maximum.
  • Able to see with acuity of 20 inches or less and far acuity of at least 20 feet normal depth perception, field of vision and accommodation.
  • Able to reach above and below the waist, walk and use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects.
Work Environment

  • Able to bend and twisting of the body required.
