Anticipated 1:1 Paraeducator
Position Summary
The 1:1 Paraeducator provides individualized support to a designated child within the early childhood classroom. The Paraeducator works closely with the classroom teacher, Director, and outside service providers to help the child safely access and participate in classroom routines, learning activities, play, and social interactions. The goal of the position is to provide appropriate support while promoting the child's independence, inclusion, and success within the classroom.
The position requires the ability to actively engage with and supervise a young child throughout the day, including sitting on the floor, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting with personal care needs. The employee must be able to respond quickly when necessary to maintain the child's safety.
The 1:1 Paraeducator works as an integral member of the classroom team. The position requires flexibility and the ability to respond appropriately to changing needs while maintaining a positive, respectful, and supportive relationship with the designated child. The Paraeducator is expected to promote inclusion and independence rather than isolate the child from peers or classroom activities.
