Job summary

Peraton is seeking an Antenna Systems Hydraulic/Mechanical Technician to join the team at the Fort Irwin Complex in California. The DSN space communications contract with NASA anchors the work, focused on maintaining and repairing antenna structures and related hydraulic/mechanical subsystems.

The right candidate will perform welding, preventive maintenance, equipment installation, and critical safety procedures while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain a California class "B" driver’s license.
  • Must be able to carry 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to obtain a trusted background check (NCIC) and be a US citizen with proof of citizenship.
  • Must possess and retain a valid California Real ID driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Painting and corrosion control of antenna surfaces.
  • Welding of antenna structural members.
  • Installation and repair of motors, pumps, hydraulic hoses and associated equipment.
  • Preventive & Predictive maintenance including lubrication of major gear assemblies using IR, oil analysis and vibration monitors.
  • Hoisting activities for heavy equipment at heights up to 150'.
  • Traverse antenna structure outside protected platforms using double lanyard techniques.
  • Work on tall scaffolding as required.
  • Grouting of major mechanical assemblies.
  • Mechanical alignments of major systems.
  • Interface with internal and external customers.
  • Perform all duties consistent with this classification.

Responsibilities

We are seeking anAntenna Systems Hydraulic/Mechanical Technician to join our team at theFort Irwin Complexin California to support our Space Communications Network Services Contract (DSN) with NASA.


The Deep Space Network is NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never before seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.


Responsibilities:

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:



  • BS 0-2 Years or HS 6-8

  • Have the ability to obtain a California class \"B\" driver’s license

  • Must be able to carry 50lbs
  • Must be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). To obtain clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship

  • You must possess and retain a valid California Real ID driver’s license.

Target Salary Range

The rate / range per hour below represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
