Job summary

Garmin Ltd. is seeking a full-time Antenna Engineering Intern at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. You will explore, design and prototype antennas for Garmin products under supervision by management or a mentor.

You will design and evaluate antennas, run simulations, and build prototypes while collaborating with design, mechanical, and leadership teams to deliver timely solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Masters or Doctoral program in Electrical Engineering with focus on antennas & electromagnetics.
• Excellent academics (GPA ≥ 3.0).
• Familiar with lab bench equipment like multimeters, network analyzers, soldering irons.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop antennas for consumer electronics, including simulations and prototypes.
• Proficient use of antenna simulation software (XFDTD, CST, HFSS, etc.).
• Communicate with design team, engineers and leadership.
• Demonstrate urgency and focus on priorities to deliver timely solutions.

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Antenna Engineering Intern at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for exploring, designing and prototyping antennas for Garmin products or explorations (concepts for future products) under supervision of Management or Mentor.

Essential Functions

• Design/develop antennas for consumer electronic devices, including simulations, prototyping and evaluation
• Proficiently use one of the antenna simulation software (ex. XFDTD, CST, HFSS, etc.)
• Apply a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities in developing timely solutions
• Communicate with design team, mechanical engineers, leadership and all responsible parties

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a Masters or Doctoral program in Electrical Engineering with focus on antennas & electromagnetics
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Familiar with use of lab bench (ex. multimeters, network analyzers, soldering iron, etc.)

Desired Qualifications

• Published journal/conference article in the field of antennas and electromagnetics
• Knowledge of wireless systems - GPS, cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
