Job summary

RTX’s Antenna Design Engineer Intern in Summer 2027 will join the Effector RF Design team to develop antenna hardware, run simulations, and collaborate with cross-functional engineers. You will contribute to RF product development and gain hands-on experience with industry tools and processes.

The role requires pursuing a Mechanical Engineering or related STEM degree, a minimum of 60 credit hours, and proficiency in HFSS/CST/FEKO/SENTRi/GRASP, with exposure to electromagnetic theory.

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM major and enrolled through the internship period.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 credit hours by start of the internship.
  • Proficiency with modeling & simulation tools such as HFSS, CST, FEKO, SENTRi and/or GRASP.
  • Experience or coursework in communication theory, microwave theory, and electromagnetic/wave theory.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary engineering teams including thermal, structural, mechanical, and systems.
  • Work with antenna manufacturing suppliers.

At Raytheon , The Effector RF Design Department is seeking a highly motivated AntennaDesign Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 to support the development of RF products and technologies including antennas, RF couplers, and supporting test equipment as part of a multi-discipline team. A successful candidate is one with the skillset and passion required to solve complex engineering problems, properly apply engineering tools and processes, and leverage knowledge from previous coursework and projects.

All interns will work within a larger team at Raytheon. Interns perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects and will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities. These include access to technical mentors and the ability to "shadow" experienced professionals in order to learn about real industry positions.

What You Will Do:
  • Development of antenna or radome hardware and requirements.
  • Working with interdisciplinary engineering teams including thermal, structural, mechanical, systems, etc.
  • Working with antenna manufacturing suppliers.
  • Antenna modeling and simulation execution on workstations and high performance computing resources (HPC).
  • Analyzing simulation or measurement test data to verify performance to requirements.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session .
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
  • Proficiency with modeling & simulation tools such as HFSS, CST, FEKO, SENTRi and/or GRASP
  • Experience and/or coursework with one or more of the following: Communication theory, microwave theory, and/or electromagnetic and wave theory
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Class projects, professional internships, or academic research demonstrating the ability to apply technical coursework.
  • Model generation and simulation experience with conformal antennas (to include experience or relevant course work).
  • Proficiency with Python, MATLAB and/or other high level scientific programming languages
  • Self-motivated problem solver with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
