Job summary

The United Board in New York seeks an ambitious Annual Giving Manager to grow annual giving through donor cultivation, stewardship, communications, and innovative fundraising initiatives. This role reports to the AVP of Development and emphasizes relationship building across Asia and the United States.

The position offers a hybrid work model in New York City, with travel domestically and internationally, and opportunities for professional growth in higher education in Asia.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years in fundraising, annual giving, nonprofit development or related work.
• Experience meeting goals, budgeting and revenue reporting for senior management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of an annual giving program and donor engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate with AVP of Development on major and planned gift strategies.
• Grow and diversify the donor base, cultivating new and lapsed donors.
• Manage and steward a portfolio of annual giving donors, exploring six-figure gifts.
• Align fundraising efforts with the new strategic plan to expand the circle of giving.
• Plan and deliver 2–4 donor/events programs across the United States yearly.
• Maintain donor records and track activity in CRM systems.
• Prepare donor communications, proposals, and impact reports across time zones.
• Travel domestically up to 20% and internationally annually for board meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Development team.

Position Overview: Annual Giving Manager (New York)

The United Board seeks a creative, ambitious and relationship-oriented Annual Giving Manager to join our New York office. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Development, this position plays an important role in growing annual and individual giving through donor cultivation, stewardship, communications, and fundraising initiatives. The successful candidate will enjoy building meaningful relationships, collaborating with colleagues across Asia and the United States, and helping connect donors with the United Board’s mission and programs.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary range: $80,000 – 90,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of an annual giving program, including appeals, campaigns, and donor engagement initiatives to solicit and cultivate donors from the $1,000 to $10,000 level and above, and expand giving at these levels by 20% each year.
• Collaborates with the AVP of Development on major and planned gift strategies, including qualifying annual giving donors for such gifts.
• Develop strategies to grow and diversify our donor base, with an emphasis on cultivating new and lapsed donors.
• Manage and steward a portfolio of annual giving donors, building meaningful relationships that align with the United Board’s mission and values, and qualifying such donors for the potential of six-figure and planned gifts.
• Collaborate with development team and program colleagues to ensure fundraising efforts align with the objectives of the United Board’s new strategic plan – of which one key goal is to Expand and Diversify the Circle of Giving
• Conceive, plan and deliver 2-4 donor and/or program alumni events across the United States annually.
• Maintain accurate donor records and track fundraising activity in Raiser's Edge or similar CRM systems.
• Work with colleagues across time zones to prepare donor communications, proposals, and impact reports.
• Stay informed about United Board’s programs and represent the organization effectively with donors through in-person meetings and at events.
• Travel domestically (up to 20%) for donor visits and events to manage key regional donor markets across the United States. Travel internationally at least once per year for board meetings and/or programs in Asia.
• Other projects and development team duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, annual giving, advancement, nonprofit development, or related work.
• Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed goals, experience creating budgets, and prepare revenue reports for senior management review.
• Experience with or interest in international education and a strong commitment to the mission, values, and work of the United Board.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team are a must.
• Creative, proactive, and innovative thinker who takes initiative and is comfortable using emergent AI and digital fundraising tools.
• Experience with donor databases (especially Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge and NetSuite) preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required; related advanced degree is desirable.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
