Job summary

Franklin County Department of Animal Services is seeking an Animal Shelter Attendant to join the frontline care team. You will provide daily animal care, maintain a clean shelter environment, and support social enrichment that keeps animals healthy and adoptable.

You will assist with adoptions, coordinate with rescues when needed, and help manage intake, records, and supplies. This is a hands-on role requiring compassion, reliability, and the ability to work with the public and animals in a busy

Qualifications

• Completion of high school and some experience with animals; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
• Must be able to obtain certification in animal euthanasia techniques.
• Must be able to obtain certification in vaccinating animals for rabies.
• Knowledge of animal handling, behavior, and care in a shelter setting.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains animal confinement area, feeds and waters confined animals.
• Assists with adoptions and processing of required paperwork and fees.
• Provides customer service to visitors seeking lost pets or adoptions.
• Maintains records of impounded animals and supplies.
• Assists with destroying diseased or unclaimed animals as needed.
