Job summary

Fulton County's Police Department seeks an Animal Services Officer to enforce animal care ordinances and handle shelter animals and wildlife in the Atlanta area.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required; supplemented by three (3) years of experience as an animal control officer, law enforcement officer, code enforcement officer, or in a related field involving ordinance enforcement and the care and handling of shelter animals and wildlife; or two (2) years of experience as an Animal Services Officer I (Fulton County Government Police Department—current or former employees only); or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must possess and maintain the following certificate(s) within 18 months of employment: National Animal Control Association (NACA) ACO (Animal Control Officer) I & NACA ACO II.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Examination
