Job summary

The County of El Dorado is recruiting for Animal Services Officer I/II in Diamond Springs, CA. This role enforces state, county, and city animal laws, conducts investigations, issues citations, and may perform animal rescues and euthanasia as needed.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from high school.
  • One year of experience in caring for animals and in explaining and enforcing regulations and procedures to the public.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate complaints about nuisance, stray, uncontrolled, neglected/injured, dangerous, wild, or diseased animals.
  • Conduct initial investigations of animal cruelty and bites; arrange identification and quarantine as needed.
  • Explain state and local laws related to care and control of animals to the public.
  • Issue citations for violations; patrol assigned areas with County vehicles.
  • Rescue wild, stray, unlicensed domestic animals and livestock; transport injured animals; perform euthanasia as required.
  • May assist with shelter operations as needed.
