This entry-level role starts at $22 per hour, Monday through Friday 7 am to 4 pm, with weekend and holiday rotations after training.

We are seeking an Animal Research Technician I at our Safety Assessment site in Reno, NV.

Basic Summary

Responsible for assisting the Animal Resource team in the documentation and management of all processing events of newly arrived animals, quarterly physicals, blood collection and other related activities. Also responsible for preventive health care, environmental enrichment and handling and restraint of laboratory animals.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform technical duties associated with processing events such as administration of various therapeutic agents using different modes of administration (1M, Topical, PO...), and other tasks as appropriate
• Perform and be proficient in basic veterinary technical skills (i.e. record for physical exam, initiate clinical, veterinary observations, etc)
• May provide environmental enrichment for laboratory animals according to facility and Federal guidelines
• Perform animal follow-up observations as required
• Monitor animal heath, visually and by following detailed schedules
• Maintain accurate record keeping procedures for the veterinary department
• May assist in acclimation and behavior management of animals in our care
• Proficient animal restraint techniques
• Observe animals and report health and behavioral abnormalities
• Assist the Animal Resource team as appropriate
• Participate in weekend coverage and/or on-call rotation

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7 am - 4 pm daily plus Weekends/Holiday rotations after training (6 mos).
