The University of Idaho is seeking an Animal Care Technician to maintain cleanliness and operations in the Laboratory Animal Research Facility under supervision. The role includes daily animal care, log maintenance, inventory control, and compliance with animal research laws and policies.
Requirements include high school diploma, AALAS ALAT certification (or certification within a reasonable period), ability to work nonstandard hours, and experience with Word/Excel.
Under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Animal Research Facility Manager, the Animal Care Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and operational abilities of the facility; maintain daily logs on all research animals; maintain inventory of supplies and equipment; assist in the daily care, husbandry care, and minor medical treatment of research animals; comply with all relevant animal research laws and regulations as well as institutional policies; communicate regularly with and provide assistance and technical instruction to staff, students, and faculty as needed.
Will be required to work Friday-Tuesday some holidays, or in the event of an emergency and/or University closure.
