Christensen Farms is seeking an Animal Care Technician to support both the Farrowing and Breeding departments. This hands-on role ensures the health and well-being of our swine herd in a fast-paced barn environment.

The position starts at $20/hr with a robust benefits package including health, dental, vision, FSA, life insurance, disability, a 401(k), paid holidays, PTO, and EAP. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:00 am–3:30 pm with rotating weekends, averaging 40–43 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be consistently reliable and show up prepared for daily tasks.
• Physical readiness to handle demanding barn work with high animal care standards.
• Ability to follow established SOPs with attention to detail across feeding, breeding and sanitation.
• Eagerness to learn, take direction, and grow within livestock production.
• Strong teamwork and communication to maintain a safe, efficient work environment.
• Commitment to biosecurity, animal welfare, and company policies.

Responsabilités

• Provide feed and water daily to maintain health and nutrition.
• Heat checking and breeding sows in heat per schedule; gilt heat induction per protocols.
• Process piglets: castration, tail docking, and iron/antibiotic administration.
• Assist with farrowing and ensure piglet warmth and care.
• Monitor sows and litters daily; administer treatments as needed.
• Maintain sanitation, disinfecting, biosecurity, and records.
