Job summary

Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA in Virginia is seeking a dedicated Animal Care Technician to join its Animal Care team. The role focuses on daily feeding, cleaning housing, monitoring animal health, exercising animals, and helping with laundry and deeper cleaning of crates and equipment.

The position is part-time, non-exempt, with weekend and holiday hours, starting at $15.00 per hour. Candidates should have good time management, strong communication, and comfort around animals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Comfortable around animals.
• Good time management and oral and written communication skills.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Clean animal areas, equipment, and facilities per SOPs.
• Provide humane, compassionate care to animals to improve adoptability.
• Provide for medical and behavioral needs as instructed.
• Feed pets and care for their daily needs.
• Notify staff of repairs and assist with maintenance.
• Monitor and report changes in health or behavior daily.
