Job summary

Charles River Insourcing Solutions is seeking an Animal Support Technician I to join the team in Bethesda, MD, with possible duties at nearby sites. You will maintain animal health, housing and environment, and assist with care and handling of animals across species in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

The role requires an AA/AS in biology or related field or a BA/BS; ALAT certification is preferred. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are needed, as the position involves travel

Qualifications

• Associate degree in biology/animal science or related with animal handling experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in biology/animal science or related field, no experience required.
• ALAT certification preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain records of animal breeding, health and housing.
• Record animal health concerns and administer prescribed treatments.
• Care for various animal species as assigned.
• Assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of animals.
• Follow procedures to maintain animal housing areas and sanitation.
• Receive, inspect and house incoming animals.
• Operate equipment and perform cage wash and sanitation tasks.
• Support IS clients in Bethesda, with potential sites in Poolesville, Gaithersburg, Baltimore or DC.

Education

Associate’s degree in biology/animal science or related

Bachelor’s degree in biology/animal science or related field

AALAS ALAT certification (preferred)

Valid driver's license
