Work shift is Monday–Friday, 2am–10am, with Saturdays and Sundays off. Responsibilities include caring for animals in intensive care, administering medications under veterinary direction, collecting samples, maintaining records, and assisting with training.

Qualifications

• 2 to 3 years of effective experience
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

• Observe animals in an intensive care setting and report changes to veterinary staff or supervisor; notify on-call veterinarian in emergency situation; take action as needed.
• Monitor animals with artificial organs and associated equipment; respond to alarms and status changes.
• Use aseptic techniques to administer medications; monitor blood pressure and heart rate for abnormal conditions.
• Collect blood, urine, and fecal samples; conduct diagnostic tests as directed.
• Maintain records of animal data and vitals; follow orders from veterinary staff.
• Restrain, position, and prepare animals for procedures; assist with veterinary treatments.
• Operate and maintain equipment; notify supervisor of malfunctions.
• Prepare rooms and supplies for animal recovery after surgery.
• Maintain stock of supplies and recommend equipment needs.
• Assist in training new Animal Care Technicians.
