Job summary

Petland Corporate Stores is seeking an Animal Care Technician to provide dedicated, high-quality care for puppies and kittens in a busy retail environment.

You will manage daily kennel operations, monitor health, assist veterinarians, and help maintain nutrition and cleanliness standards while supporting a friendly, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or related experience preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage time and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow directions and maintain kennels and records.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for puppies' nutritional, behavioral, environmental, and maintenance needs.
• Perform opening, daily, and closing kennel procedures.
• Complete cleaning checklists to ensure maximum cleanliness.
• Monitor health of puppies and kittens and maintain records.
• Assist the store veterinarian with examinations and medications as prescribed.
• Train and coach other Animal Care Technicians as a designated key holder.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide care for puppy’s nutritional, behavioral, environmental, and maintenance needs.
• Perform opening, daily, and closing procedures in the kennel.
• Complete procedural cleaning checklists to ensure maximum cleanliness.
• Monitor the health of all puppies and kittens daily and assist in maintaining proper records.
• Maintain proper pet nutrition, socialization, and cleaning according to expectations.
• Assist the store veterinarian with puppy and kitten examinations and administer care and medications as prescribed.
• Train and coach other, less experienced Animal Care Technicians as a designated “key holder.”
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Required Education and Training

High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
