Job summary

University of Florida is seeking an Animal Care Technician I on the Main Campus in Gainesville. The role involves routine animal husbandry, cage changing, washing, and maintaining clean animal facilities in accordance with ACS SOPs and safety standards.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Florida driver’s license. Prior experience with laboratory animals is preferred. This is a full-time onsite role with veteran’s preference eligibility and a background check.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid FL driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine husbandry duties and cage washing as directed by supervisor.
• Observe animals for signs of illness or changes in behavior and report promptly.
• Assist with cage changes, feeding, and transport supplies between rooms as needed.
• Follow ACS SOPs, NIH guidelines, IACUC and EHS safety procedures at all times.
