Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Sun Valley Animal Center is seeking an Animal Care Specialist to support veterinarians and technicians with daily tasks, feeding, restraining, and caring for pets in a hospital setting.

The successful candidate will join a team focused on quality care and exceptional client service, with opportunities for hands-on training, teamwork, and career development. Weekend and holiday availability may be required to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older to be considered.
• High school diploma or GED.
• No veterinary experience required; willing to train the right candidate.
• Comfortable around dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments.
• Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
• Professional communication skills with clients and coworkers.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn veterinary software.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Feeds animals as prescribed by the attending Veterinarian or owner; records appetites, water intake, fecal and urine production.
• Recognizes and reports any unusual conditions or abnormal behaviors and monitors pets for signs of distress or disease.
• Assists veterinarians and technicians with pet restraint.
• Maintains hospital cleanliness; cleans equipment and facilities and ensures safe use of chemicals.
• Follows a regular schedule for cleaning and sanitizing cages, runs, wards, and related areas.
• Completes weekly and monthly chore list to maintain cleanliness, equipment, and appearance of the hospital.
• Prioritizes tasks and maintains kennel and hospital laundry.
• Provides patients with fresh bedding and walks patients according to schedule.
• Understands and carries out oral and written directions; performs other duties as assigned.
