Edisto Beach State Park on Edisto Island, SC, seeks a hands-on park assistant to care for collection animals, maintain enclosures, prepare diets, and support daily operations.

You will assist with cleaning, record keeping, and visitor programs while helping maintain a safe, welcoming environment and interpreting the park's cultural and natural resources.

Qualifications

• Experience in animal care or husbandry preferred.
• Record keeping experience or ability to maintain accurate records.
• Bachelor's degree or higher required or preferred as stated in job posting.

Main job duties include:

Maintain and insure the well-being, feeding and care of collection animals, along with the daily care and operation of their enclosures. Participate in the cleaning and sanitizing of the quarantine areas in and around holding tanks, and all animal equipment. Maintain records of all animals in his/her care. Prepare animal diets or other food substances. May assist in both requisition and record keeping of food and other supplies.

Other duties:

General maintenance of the facility includes the classroom, conference room, exhibit hall, restroom and surrounding areas. Assist the Interpreter at the Environmental Learning Center in all capacities including but not limited to park administrative duties. Maintaining customer service for all park visitors. Assist with programs for all ages as needed. Maintains a safe work environment. Interprets the cultural and natural resources of the State Park Service to park visitors.
