Job summary

SPCA Florida is seeking enthusiastic, dependable individuals to support the happiness, health, and safety of the animals in our care. As part of the Canine Team, you will walk dogs, clean cages, bathe animals, and assist with basic duties across departments to ensure a clean, safe, and loving environment.

Shifts are approximately five hours, with a minimum of 20 hours per week. Weekend and holiday availability is required as SPCA Florida operates seven days a week.

Qualifications

• Maintains sanitation standards and supports animal health by cleaning cages and runs.
• Walks dogs multiple times daily to ensure proper exercise and enrichment.
• Facilitates visits and positive interactions between animals and potential adopters.
• Performs general housekeeping duties, including laundry and dishwashing.
• Baths animals as needed to maintain hygiene and presentation.
• Observes and reports signs of illness, injury, disease, or unusual behavior to the Adoption Center Medical Team.
• Cleans public areas; supports disease control and hygiene.
• Learns and assists with basic duties across departments; provides support as needed.
• Completes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Shift and Schedule Information

• Approximately five (5) hours per shift
• Shifts will be scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
• Must be available a minimum of 20 hours per week.
• SPCA Florida is open seven (7) days a week; therefore, weekends and holidays are mandatory.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Conducts routine cleaning and disease control of public areas throughout the day.
• Learns and assists with basic duties across departments, providing support as needed.
• Completes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Able to perform physical work, including scrubbing, mopping, lifting, walking, and bending.
• Potential for standing on feet for 8 hours a day.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance and maintain control of dogs as large as 150 pounds with assistance.
• Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities encompassing both administrative and operational tasks
