Job summary

The SPCA of Texas is seeking a Behavior Coordinator to assess animal behavior, develop action plans, provide enrichment, and guide placement decisions, with a primary focus on cat behavior while supporting the broader behavior program.

Key duties include identifying modification needs, implementing protocols, coaching staff and volunteers, maintaining animal records, conducting behavior evaluations, and ensuring safety during handling using Fear Free techniques.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate strong understanding of modern animal behavior and training principles.
• Must have strong animal training experience.
• Must be able to work independently and coach staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Identify behavior modification needs and perform training tasks.
• Implement behavior modification protocols.
• Train and coach staff and volunteers in animal behavior, handling, restraint and enrichment.
• Update animal information and maintain records in the database system.
• Perform animal behavior evaluations (BVALs).
• Maintain compliance with safety protocols and Fear Free techniques.
