Job summary

Texas Regional Physicians in Houston, TX is seeking a Board‑Certified Anesthesiologist to join our growing team. You will provide safe, high‑quality anesthesia across general, regional, and MAC settings in hospital and ambulatory centers.

You'll participate in perioperative leadership initiatives, collaborate with surgeons and CRNAs, manage pre- and post‑operative care, and contribute to patient safety and quality improvements. Texas license and ABA certification are required.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school and ABA board certification.
  • Active Texas medical license and DEA registration required.
  • Completion of anesthesia residency; fellowship a plus.
  • Strong clinical judgment and team-oriented approach essential.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration with perioperative teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-operative assessment, risk stratification, and anesthesia planning.
  • Administer general, regional, neuraxial, and MAC anesthesia across specialties.
  • Monitor patients and adjust anesthesia as needed during procedures.
  • Manage post-anesthesia care, including pain management and PACU coordination.
  • Respond to perioperative emergencies, including airway management.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, CRNAs, nurses, and perioperative staff.
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records and comply with documentation standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and supervise CRNAs/residents as applicable.
  • Engage in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital bylaws and TRP protocols.

Position Summary

Texas Regional Physicians is seeking a Board‑Certified Anesthesiologist to join our growing team in Houston, Texas. The successful candidate will provide safe, high‑quality anesthesia care across a variety of surgical and procedural settings, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC), for a diverse patient population. This role offers a mix of hospital‑based and ambulatory surgical center coverage, with opportunities to participate in perioperative leadership and quality initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pre‑operative assessment, risk stratification, and anesthesia planning for surgical and procedural patients.
  • Administer general, regional, neuraxial, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) across a range of surgical specialties.
  • Monitor and manage patients’ physiological status throughout surgical procedures, adjusting anesthesia as clinically indicated.
  • Manage post‑anesthesia care, including pain management and recovery protocols, in coordination with PACU staff.
  • Respond to and manage perioperative emergencies, including airway management and hemodynamic instability.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, CRNAs, nursing staff, and other perioperative team members to ensure coordinated, efficient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely anesthesia records in compliance with TRP and facility documentation standards.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation for emergency and after‑hours anesthesia coverage as assigned.
  • Supervise and collaborate with CRNAs and anesthesiology residents/fellows as applicable under a care team model.
  • Engage in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and departmental peer review.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital bylaws, credentialing requirements, and TRP clinical protocols.
Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited Anesthesiology residency program.
  • Fellowship training (e.g., cardiac, obstetric, pediatric, pain management, or regional anesthesia) a plus, but not required.
  • Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
  • Active, unrestricted Texas medical license (or eligibility to obtain one prior to start date).
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Eligibility for hospital privileges at TRP‑affiliated facilities in the Houston area.
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong clinical judgment, procedural skill, and ability to perform effectively in high‑acuity, time‑sensitive situations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary perioperative environment.
