Job summary

NC State University’s CVM Teaching Hospital seeks an Anesthesia Veterinary Assistant to support anesthesia services for small, large and exotic species. You will assist with induction, monitoring, patient care, and daily workflow coordination within a fast-paced teaching environment.

The role requires prior veterinary assistant experience and strong time management. Collaboration with clinicians, students and residents is essential, with a focus on safety and quality care in a teaching hospital

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a veterinary assistant in a clinical teaching hospital setting is preferred.
• Strong time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced teaching environment.
• Ability to collaborate with clinicians, students, interns and residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist with induction setup, monitoring equipment, and room preparation.
• Transport patients between induction, surgery, diagnostics and recovery areas.
• Maintain supply delivery and cleanliness of anesthesia areas and equipment.
• Record data and assist with monitoring and patient care during anesthesia.
• Provide patient restraint, venipuncture and basic medical treatments as directed.
• Participate in teaching and coaching new staff and students.
