Overview

Anesthesia Technician II at Sutter Health – Berkeley, CA. Organization: ABSMC-Ashby Campus.

Responsibilities
  • Surgeons Services: Coordinate the entire inventory process and maintain all anesthesia equipment including ventilators, intubation scopes, laryngoscopes, and physiologic monitors.
  • Prepare for and assist anesthesiologists and physicians in a variety of surgeries or procedures.
  • Interpret data and help anesthesiologists formulate plan of care and requirements for treatment, such as precautions, equipment, medications, and dosages; provide recommendations as needed.
  • Operate and troubleshoot diverse equipment and instruments necessary for job performance.
  • Ensure routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental timeframes.
  • Mentor and foster a constructive environment that supports students and new anesthesiology professionals in building confidence.
  • Clerical: Retrieve, enter, and revise patient electronic health records; prepare and complete accurate documentation related to supply inventory and orders.
  • Safety: Maintain a clean, neat, and safe working environment; clean and disinfect equipment after each procedure. Inspect and calibrate equipment for proper operation and record QC results, reporting malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Compliance: Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient PHI and protect PHI from disclosure. Perform quality work in compliance with department standards, policies, procedures and applicable regulations to deliver high-quality patient safety and care.
Education and Certification
  • Education: Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree; Completion of an Anesthesia Technician Course.
  • Certification & Licensure: BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider.
Experience and Skills
  • Experience: Typical 1 year of recent relevant experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge: General knowledge of anesthesia tools, procedures, views, and equipment; ability to interpret data and instructions in various formats; basic anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology; strong time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize within standard operating procedures; ability to work independently and in a team; problem-solving and collaboration with healthcare providers; familiarity with computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
