Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking an Anesthesia Technician II to support anesthesia providers across the perioperative environment. You will prepare equipment, maintain supplies, and ensure work areas are ready for safe, efficient patient care at our Hyde Park campus.

The role is 100% onsite, with a 40-hour week, first shift, and requires collaboration with physicians, CRNAs, nurses and technologists to maintain high-quality perioperative services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited Anesthesia Technician program or equivalent.
• BLS certification; two years of anesthesia technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare anesthesia machines, monitors and related equipment before cases.
• Perform operational checks, troubleshooting, cleaning, and routine maintenance.
• Set up invasive monitoring, airway equipment and rapid infusion devices.
• Assist anesthesia providers during routine and emergency procedures.
• Stock carts and procedural areas with supplies.
• Maintain inventory and communicate shortages to leadership.
• Transport, clean, disinfect and prepare equipment per infection standards.
• Accurately document maintenance and quality control activities.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an accredited Anesthesia Technician program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.) preferred or obtained within the required timeframe if applicable.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum two years of anesthesia technician experience in an acute care hospital.
• Experience supporting operating room anesthesia services.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a Level I Trauma Center or academic medical center.
• Experience supporting multiple surgical specialties.
• Strong troubleshooting and equipment maintenance skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
