Provide aid to anesthesiologists or anesthetists prior to and during anesthetic administration.Major Job FunctionsThe following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Clean and disinfect anesthesia carts, machines, equipment and reusable suppliesAssist in liaison between physicians, CRNAs, PACU and operating room staffsAssist with office coverage, answering phone and performing some clerical functionsPrepare medication orders for Pharmacy and restock shelvesEnter patient charges utilizing BCX systemAssist with patient transport as neededPrepare breathing circuits, IV fluid warmers, and other equipment prior to each case and assists with room turnover between casesPerform assigned maintenance checks on anesthesia machines, analyzers, and other equipment per scheduleCommunicate with Clinical Engineering regarding need for and scheduling of repair of anesthesia equipmentAssist in maintenance of equipment files/records by providing documents and information to the Patient Care Manager regarding service visitsSet up IV lines, oximetric catheters, special solutions, and transducers for pressure monitoring prior to case, as appropriateOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training:High school diploma or equivalent requiredWork Experience:1 year CSS or nursing assistant experience preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English languagePreference for routine organized activities, which deal with objects to be cleaned, stored, and maintainedAbility to work under close supervision and among several other staff levelsPhysical Requirements:Ability to cover "call" and 1st and 2nd shift coverageMinimal direct contact with patientsMajority of interactions (patients and guests) are with adultsWorks inside, walking and standing most of the dayAbility to reach, lift, and carry supplies and equipmentManual dexterity and motor coordination requiredNear visual acuityMay be subject to skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materialRequired Licenses and CertificationsCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
