Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital is seeking an Anesthesia Technician I to assist anesthesia providers in acquiring, preparing and applying equipment for anesthesia. You’ll help maintain monitoring devices and delivery systems before, during and after procedures, enabling safe, efficient care.

The role requires HS diploma or GED and 1 year of patient care, with ASATT certifications often substituting for formal diplomas; BLS/CER-A-T-UH certifications are valued.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year experience providing patient care required.
  • 2 years anesthesia technician experience may substitute for diploma.
  • ASATT certification may substitute for the technical diploma.

We are searching for an Anesthesia Technician I -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will assist licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia. In this role they contribute to safe and efficient anesthesia care. They provide support to anesthesia in routine and complex surgical cases. Provide service by preparing and maintaining patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during and after anesthesia.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs and/or assists with procedures.
  • Prepares and sets up equipment.
  • Conducts other patient-related procedures
  • Supervises the maintenance of anesthesia equipment. Inventories and stocks anesthesia supplies consistent with departmental demands. Maintains an inventory of properly functioning anesthesia equipment in designated area to track repairs. Organizes, cleans and neatly maintains all shelves and drawers where anesthesia supplies are kept. Retrieves equipment and inspects for problems. Maintains sterile supplies within expiration date.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Skills & Requirements
  • H.S. Diploma or GED required
  • 1 year experience providing patient care required
  • Two (2) years of work experience as an anesthesia technician may substitute for the technical diploma.
  • A certification through the American Society of Anesthesia technologists & technicians (ASATT) will substitute for the
Preferred Licenses/Certifications

one (1) year of required experience.
