UMC Health System in Texas seeks an Anesthesia Technician to support the operating room team by planning, securing, and arranging anesthesia equipment and supplies. The role runs Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm, with on-call requirements as needed.

The ideal candidate holds a High School Diploma or GED and understands pharmacology, sterile processing, ECG and arterial monitoring, and anesthesia equipment setup. You will interact with surgical teams and patients in a fast-paced environment.

Formación

• Knowledge of basic pharmacology, sterile processing, basic ECG and arterial monitoring.
• Familiarity with anesthesia equipment and supplies used in the operating room.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Responsabilidades

• Performs lab tests, reports findings, and maintains required documentation.
• Accompany patient during transport/transfer as needed.
• Stocks, cleans, and ensures setup of medications, supplies, and equipment used daily by anesthesia staff.
• Prepares suction equipment, IV solutions, and pressure bags prior to each patient's arrival.
• Performs lab tests, reports findings, and maintains required documentation.
• Maintains anesthesiology lab and necessary supplies.
• Assist medical staff and residents as requested.
• All other assigned duties related to Anesthesia

Job Summary

The Anesthesia Technician is responsible for assisting medical staff and planning, securing, and arranging the necessary equipment and supplies for anesthesia needs in the operating room.

Job Specific Responsibilities

• Performs lab test, report findings, and maintain required documentation
• Accompany patient during transport/transfer as needed

Education and Experience

Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations

• Basic Life Skills Certification (BLS)

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of basic pharmacology, sterile processing, basic ECG, arterial monitoring, blood gas electrolyte analyzer, anesthesia equipment
• Understanding of basic anatomy and physiology of the body
• Effective communicator; Must read, write, and speak English
• Should be able to work flexible schedule and be "on call" when needed

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships

This position will interact with patients, their families, and hospital medical staff in various departments

Physical Capabilities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. There are extended period of standing and frequent walking. Visual acuity (computers, typing, reading, writing) is required for assigned duties.

Environmental/Working Conditions

This position is subject to indoor temperature changes. Work done intraoperative is performed in a high- risk area for exposure to blood borne pathogens.
