Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Gaithersburg, MD seeks an Anesthesia Technician to support anesthesia providers during scheduled procedures. You will assemble drugs and equipment, stock and clean operating room supplies, and ensure sterilization and readiness between cases.

Provides assistance to anesthesia provider as they administer anesthesia by assembling drugs and equipment needed for scheduled procedures. Cleans, orders, stocks, assembles, and organizes equipment used by anesthesia provider.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Orders, stocks, cleans, and inspects anesthesia equipment and supplies needed for surgical procedures.
• Reviews the daily schedules of procedures and assembles supplies needed for each procedure.
• Obtains additional supplies needed by the anesthesia provider during procedure.
• Removes equipment and supplies used by the anesthesia provider following procedure.
• Assures that equipment is properly cleaned and sterilized following use.
• Assists in preparing the surgical suite for next procedure.
• Performs other related duties as directed.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

• Minimum one (1) year of related experience in an operating room setting required.

Education

• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

• Basic Life Support

Additional Requirements:

• General understanding and demonstrate knowledge of aseptic techniques.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
• In order to work effectively with patients, must have effective interpersonal and communication skills and be able to stand, walk, bend, lift at least 50 pounds, hear, speak, and see.
• Currently working as an anesthesia tech in an ASC/Hospital setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Anesthesia Technician (CAT) by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists & Technicians (ASATT) Board preferred.
