Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to support anesthesia providers before, during, and after procedures by preparing equipment, managing supplies, and ensuring readiness of anesthesia systems.

You will operate under clinical supervision in a fast-paced perioperative setting to promote patient safety and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
  • EMT or Certified Surg Tech or LPN required.
  • One year of hospital experience is preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant Certification is preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
  • IL & IA Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training within 90 days of hire.
  • IL & IA Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Training within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, prepare, and organize equipment and supplies needed for patient care.
  • Set up, test, and troubleshoot anesthesia machines and related systems for safe operation.
  • Perform routine cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of anesthesia equipment per infection control standards.
  • Assist operating room staff with patient care activities under RN supervision, including transport and room turnover.
  • Maintain inventory by stocking, rotating, and ordering anesthesia and OR supplies.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair requests with Clinical Engineering.
  • Conduct safety checks and testing on anesthesia equipment for compliance and safety.
  • Maintain a clean, compliant work environment and proper handling of infectious/hazardous materials.
  • Support efficient OR workflow by addressing real-time needs of anesthesia and surgical teams.

  • Perform routine cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of anesthesia equipment in alignment with infection control standards and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Assistoperating room staff with patient care activities under RN supervision, including transport and room turnover.
  • Maintainaccurateinventory levels by stocking, rotating, and ordering anesthesia and OR supplies to support continuous operations.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair requests with Clinical Engineering and ensuretimelyresolution of issues.
  • Conduct functional testing and safety checks on anesthesia equipment to ensure compliance and patient safety.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment, including proper handling and disposal of infectious and hazardous materials.
  • Support efficient OR workflow by responding to real-time needs of anesthesia and surgical teams.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GEDor equivalentrequired.
  • EMT or Certified Surg Tech or LPN required

Experience:

  • One (1) year of hospital experience is preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Certified Nursing Assistant Certification is preferred.
