Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking an Anesthesia Technician III to provide direct patient care and support to anesthesia providers. The role includes equipment preparation, monitoring assistance, and leading department initiatives in a high‑intensity OR setting.

The position requires 2 years of anesthesia tech experience, a High School diploma or GED, and AHA BLS‑HCP certification. Evening/night shifts at the 1906 Belleview Ave SE facility may be involved.

Responsibilities

How Youll Help Transform Healthcare:

The Anesthesia Technician III provides direct patient care and clinical assistance to anesthesia care providers in the acquisition, preparation, application and use of monitors, equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia in various settings. Performs general cleaning and decontamination of supplies and equipment. Mentors Anesthesia Technicians I & II. Assists with competency validations as requested.

The Anesthesia Technician III

• Assumes a lead role in department initiatives to enhance team goals and education, moving department forward through advocacy and team development.
• Participates in the development and continuous updating of departmental policies and procedures directly related to anesthesia technical staff and performance duties.
• Assists with the orientation of staff and provides education, training and mentoring for new employees in daily work assignments such as patient care, room preparations and usage of equipment as needed and /or assigned.
• Validates competencies of Orientees as designated.
• Provides direct patient care by assisting the anesthesia providers with medications, patient monitoring, and equipment usage and monitoring.
• Assists the licensed anesthesia provider and other ORS staff with direct patient care in clinical settings. Communicates with physicians, certified registered nurse anesthetists, RNs and other departmental staff written and orally in an effective, respectful manner.
• Mentor, educate and participate in the training for Peri-Anesthesia Technicians I & II and other surgical services staff and students.
• Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development and anatomy and physiology as it applies to anesthesia care. May be asked to provide care at other Carilion facilities to meet Organization Mission, Values, and Guiding Principles. Carilion Clinic acknowledges that the anesthesia technical staff are a part of the anesthesia care team as listed in the practice guidelines of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).

What We Require:

Education: High School diploma / GED required.

Experience: 2 years of Anesthesia Technician experience required.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: AHA BLS-HCP

Other Minimum Qualifications: ffective interpersonal, critical thinking skills, communication and team working skills required. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position. Must be able to fulfill fundamental components/essential elements of position. Basic computer skills. Ability to work in a high pressure/rapid paced environment. Ethical and legal issues and responsibilities. Must meet all anesthesia technician I, II, and II competencies within 6 weeks of hire.

Compensation Range:

$18.70 - $26.18

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
