Carilion Clinic seeks an Anesthesia Tech I to provide direct patient care and clinical assistance in acquiring, preparing, and using monitors, equipment and supplies for anesthesia across settings. Responsibilities include decontamination and maintaining accurate documentation of sterilized items.

The role requires 1 year of health care experience, completion of Carilion Anesthesia Tech I competencies, and BLS-HCP within 2 months.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year direct patient healthcare experience and completion of Carilion Anesthesia Tech I competencies.
• Must complete AHA BLS-HCP within 2 months of hire and maintain.
• Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a high pressure/rapid paced environment; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination and advanced sterilization processes.
• Assist physicians, PAs, Anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and RNs in patient care and equipment delivery.
• Maintain documentation including lot numbers for sterilized items.
• Prepare patients and assist with induction, anesthesia delivery, blocks and emergence.
• Maintain designated supply levels.

How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:

The Anesthesia Tech I will provide direct patient care and clinical assistance to anesthesia care providers in the acquisition, preparation, application and use of monitors, equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia in various settings. Performs general cleaning and decontamination of supplies and equipment.

• Performs Decontamination and advanced sterilization processes (steam, flash, steriad).
• Provides direct assistance to Physicians, Physician Assistants, Anesthesiologists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and RNs in the delivery of care to patients across the age spectrum (i.e. patient transport, equipment, supplies, room preparation, specimens and medications).
• Maintains accurate documentation as relates to activities, responsible for documentation of lot numbers for all sterilized items for tracking and recall purposes.
• Assists Anesthesia Providers by preparing patients, positioning, induction, anesthesia delivery including blocks and emergence.
• Maintain designated supply levels.

What We Require:

Education: High School diploma / GED.

Experience: 1 year direct patient healthcare experience and completion of Carilion Anesthesia Tech I competencies required.

Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Must successfully complete AHA BLS-HCP within 2 months of hire and maintain throughout employment.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, critical thinking skills, communication and team working skills required. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position. Must meet all level I competencies within 6 weeks of hire/start. Must be able to fulfill fundamental components/essential elements of position. Basic computer skills. Ability to work in a high pressure/rapid paced environment. Ethical and legal issues and responsibilities. Biologic hazards, infection control, and standard precautions.

Compensation Range:

$18.70 - $26.18

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
