Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is seeking an Anesthesia Respiratory Therapist for the Operating Room in Omaha, NE. The role emphasizes patient care assessment, cardiopulmonary management, and delivering respiratory therapy in surgical settings.

The third shift requires on-call and weekend coverage with collaboration across OR teams, following evidence-based guidelines, and leveraging tuition assistance opportunities to support ongoing education.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree in respiratory care required.
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (LRCP) from the State of Nebraska required.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the NBRC within two years of hire required.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills required.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) and/or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) by patient care area/unit or department dependent required.

Responsibilities

  • Respiratory Therapist responsible for patient care assessment and application of evidence-based guidelines.
  • Develops and implements effective patient care, treatment, and cardiopulmonary disease management.
  • Provides respiratory therapy procedures and modalities in emergent, acute, surgical, chronic and ambulatory care settings for diverse patient populations.

Duties

Preferred Qualifications
  • Based on position, prior experience in respiratory therapy preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Based on position, the ability to demonstrate competence with all ages preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Email preferred.
  • Experience with patient care equipment and supplies preferred.
  • Experience in electronic health record systems preferred.
