Job summary

Speechify is hiring a Senior Android Engineer to own major features, shape the Android team, and deliver high-quality user experiences. You will work with design and product to ensure reliable, scalable features and provide nightly builds for QA.

The role fits a 5+ year veteran with strong Kotlin/Kotlin Coroutines/Jetpack skills. Speechify operates in a fully distributed setup with a focus on impactful education tech, compensation includes stock options.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Familiarity with Android components.
• Experience building or contributing to at least one Android app.
• Product design intuition and user empathy.
• Drive to push the boundaries of Android UI/UX.
• Understanding of the importance of tests and how to approach writing tests.
• Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the spec.

Responsibilities

• Own major features and deliver high quality features with design team collaboration.
• Shape the future of the Android team.
• Own, maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Participate in discussions across Product, Design, Engineering.
• Review pull requests and support teammates.
• Handle critical issues or unexpected challenges.
• Take ownership of feature releases and provide nightly builds for QA.
