Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an experienced Android Engineer to bring plugins, connectors, and interactive apps to life on mobile. You will build Android experiences and platform foundations enabling developers to extend ChatGPT on devices, collaborating with product, design, and platform engineers.

You’ll work across native Android interfaces, developer-facing APIs, and systems supporting extensibility on mobile. The role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid model (3 days in office) and relocation

Qualifications

Deep experience building Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android frameworks.
Track record shipping consumer-facing mobile products at scale with focus on performance and UX.
Ability to design reusable interfaces and abstractions for developers.
Strong collaboration across engineering, product and design with external partners.

Responsibilities

Build Android experiences for plugins, connectors, and interactive apps within ChatGPT.
Develop reusable Android components and interfaces to support an ecosystem of developer-built experiences.
Partner with platform engineers to connect native mobile experiences with APIs, SDKs, and backend systems.
Work with developers and partners to identify integration challenges and improve the mobile experience.
Improve app performance, reliability, architecture, testing, and developer tooling.
Own projects from initial requirements through release, measurement, and iteration.
