Job summary

The company in Boston, MA is seeking an Android Engineer I to build on generative AI capabilities, delivering member-facing features that boost health insights and performance. You will work with engineers, designers, and product managers to help members understand their health and optimize performance while aligning with the company journey.

  • Knowledge of Kotlin and frameworks such as Coroutines, Jetpack libraries, Room, Retrofit/OkHttp.
  • Well-versed in communicating with a RESTful backend.
  • Experience using Git to organize feature work.
  • Experience with MVVM, MVI, and modular architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Kotlin and Java to develop and maintain product features and communicate with a RESTful backend.
  • Lead and contribute to new feature ideation, planning, and development.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineers to solve challenges across the system.
  • Document new features and architecture.
  • Analyze user metrics and feedback to improve engagement and reduce crashes.
  • Participate in the release process including building, variants, signing, Firebase testing, and App Store submission.
  • Self organize using Jira, Confluence, and Github.

Job description

Our wearable device tracks key physiological metrics such as heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and sleep quality to provide personalized insights into users' fitness, health, and recovery.

As an Android Engineer I, you will build on the company’s generative AI capabilities to develop and maintain exciting, member-facing features that drive meaningful health outcomes. You will play a vital role in delivering personalized insights across the company and work alongside experienced engineers, designers, and product managers to help members better understand their health, optimize performance, and gain clarity throughout their the company journey.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Utilize knowledge of Kotlin and Java to develop and maintain product features and communicate with a RESTful backend
  • Lead and contribute to new feature ideation, planning, and development
  • Work with Product Engineers to devise solutions to challenges across the the company system
  • Document new features and architecture
  • Analyze and monitor user metrics and feedback to determine crash rate or potential bugs and to improve engagement
  • Participate in the release process including getting the app built, managing build variants, signing, sending and testing through Firebase, and submitting to the App store
  • Self organize using productivity tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Github
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Product minded engineer with empathy for the member experience
  • Possess a strong willingness to learn and grow rapidly across Android and external systems
  • Experience in Android application structure and components as well as lifecycle and Android Design Guidelines
  • Experience in building, testing, debugging, and delivering native Android apps in a professional environment
  • Knowledge of Kotlin and frameworks such as Coroutines, Android Jetpack libraries (including ViewModel, Flows, and Navigation), Room database, and Retrofit / OkHttp.
  • Well-versed in communicating with a RESTful backend
  • Experience using Git to organize feature work
  • Experience using best-practice mobile architecture and modular design, including patterns such as MVVM, MVI, etc

This role is based in the the company office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000-$145,000. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.

In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package.

These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate’s specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
