Job summary

WISN-TV is seeking a Local News Anchor Reporter in Milwaukee, WI, to deliver engaging live news coverage on our flagship network. The successful candidate will be responsible for anchoring, reporting, and mentoring emerging talents while covering various stories and events.

The ideal applicant has a minimum of 2 years of experience in anchoring and reporting, possesses excellent communication skills, and can handle fast-paced, time-sensitive productions. This role requires working varied shifts, including weekends and overnights.

Local News Anchor Reporter (Milwaukee, WI)

Join Hearst Television’s flagship network, WISN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Milwaukee, to anchor, report, and deliver compelling live news coverage. In this dynamic role you bring energy, credibility, poise, and personality to the anchor desk while leading field reporting, writing scripts, and mentoring reporters.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver scripted and ad‑lib material with professionalism, personality, and purpose.
  • Work with and guide reporters and producers in newscast production.
  • Plan, gather, and assemble stories on day‑of news or special project assignments.
  • Coordinate with news managers and producers to develop stories that go beyond surface details, accentuate unique enterprise angles, and include exclusive content.
  • Develop a network of sources who provide tips, early access to information, and allow the reporter to break stories of significance.
  • Appear on behalf of the station at public events.
  • Contribute pictures, video and text updates to mobile platforms throughout the day.
  • Work on different stories and projects at once and meet all deadlines.
  • Summarize information into easy‑to‑understand components.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of anchor experience required.
  • 2+ years of reporting experience required.
  • Your demo reel demonstrates everyday work.
  • Anchor that connects with viewers, in addition to reporting skills.
  • Operate mobile transmission devices and use latest technology.
  • Can work in all weather conditions, on varied shifts including overnights and weekends, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
  • Exhibit unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
  • Can handle the stresses and pressures of time‑sensitive newscast production.
Education & Experience
  • Related experience and/or training considered, as well as a combination of education and experience.
  • Equivalent military training from Defense Information School (DINFOS) and associated experience will be considered.
  • Hearst Television supports veterans; related military training and experience will be considered.
