Job summary

Great American Risk Solutions (GARS) Analytics Team seeks an Analytics Manager to lead analytics delivery, guide team execution, and scale capabilities as demand grows. This role emphasizes ownership of analytics execution, prioritization, and quality across core reporting domains with modern tools adoption.

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, business-focused mindset, and a passion for developing and coaching others, while being on-site four days a week with one day remote.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required; master’s degree or professional license/certification a plus.
  • Field of Study: Business, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or related quantitative or technology discipline preferred.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in analytics, reporting, or business intelligence roles, including experience leading projects, mentoring analysts, or supervising staff. Experience in insurance, financial services, or professional services a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the daily operations of the data team, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
  • Oversees analytical work across reporting and analytics initiatives, ensuring data is accurately integrated, evaluated, and interpreted to support strategic business objectives.
  • Ensures data integrity and accuracy through regular audits and validation checks.
  • Leads the development and delivery of reports, dashboards, visualizations, and business intelligence solutions to provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Manages, coaches, and develops a team of three analysts, supporting skill development, performance management, consistent quality, and professional growth.
  • Works closely with analytics peers, leadership, and enterprise partners to align priorities, share knowledge, and continuously improve analytics capabilities.
  • Partners closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics needs, translate requirements into actionable work, and deliver high‑impact solutions.
  • Collaborates with data mart and IT teams to support reporting and analytics initiatives, ensuring data quality, availability, and successful platform modernization efforts.
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements and modern analytics capabilities to enhance data collection, analysis, reporting efficiency, and business insight delivery.
  • Ensures documentation is developed and maintained for analytics processes, workflows, reporting standards, and data definitions
  • Contributes hands‑on analytical work as needed, particularly for complex, time‑sensitive, or high‑impact deliverables.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Great American Risk Solutions (GARS) is a growing wholesale excess & surplus (E&S) insurance business focused on complex and specialized commercial risks. As a dynamic and expanding business, GARS combines the entrepreneurial spirit of a growth-oriented organization with the stability and resources of Great American Insurance Group. The GARS Analytics Team develops reporting and analytics that enable better decision-making across a complex and evolving commercial portfolio. We are seeking an Analytics Manager to serve as a people leader and business partner, overseeing analytics delivery, guiding team execution, and helping scale team capabilities as demand continues to grow.

This role emphasizes ownership of analytics execution, prioritization, and quality across core reporting domains, along with technical proficiency and the proactive adoption of modern tools and methodologies. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, a business‑focused mindset, and a passion for developing and coaching others.

To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on‑site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in‑office days are Tuesday–Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

  • Strong analytical judgment and technical credibility, with sufficient proficiency in modern analytics and reporting tools to review work, guide approaches, and set quality standards (e.g., SQL‑based analytics, Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Ability to operate with limited oversight, exercising sound judgment in prioritization, execution decisions, and escalation.
  • Effective communicator who can translate business needs into analytical direction and provide clear feedback to both analysts and stakeholders.
  • Maintains awareness of best practices and emerging trends in analytics, ensuring the team remains aligned with standards and expectations.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments a plus
