Job summary

Jobtailor is hiring a senior analytics engineer to design and optimize data models and ELT pipelines using dbt on Databricks Lakehouse. You will define standards, mentor engineers, and partner with stakeholders to deliver scalable, observable data solutions.

The role emphasizes strong SQL, data governance, and the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable designs, with onsite work and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
• 5+ years of analytics engineering or data engineering experience.
• Hands-on dbt in a modern ELT environment.
• Experience with Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake.
• Strong SQL optimization for large-scale transformations.
• Understanding of testing, CI/CD, observability, governance.
• Ability to translate complex concepts to stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel and work onsite as needed.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, monitor, and improve data models and transformations using dbt within Databricks Lakehouse.
• Build scalable, maintainable data models, macros, testing frameworks, and automation logic.
• Translate AR workflows into technical designs and incremental deliverables with stakeholders.
• Establish analytics engineering standards, conventions, naming patterns, and testing practices.
• Participate in design sessions, spike investigations, and data architecture reviews.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers through feedback.
• Troubleshoot complex data issues across ingestion, transformation, and semantic layers.
• Promote automation, observability, data quality testing, governance, and continuous improvement.
• Design and optimize Delta Lake tables and Spark workloads for performance and cost efficiency.
• Evaluate emerging tools and vendor solutions in the modern data ecosystem.
• Support AR Follow-Up transformation through datasets enabling prioritization, analysis, routing, and automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related technical field
• 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or advanced BI building production-grade data solutions
• Strong hands-on experience with dbt in a modern ELT environment or similar framework
• Experience with Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake or similar distributed data platforms
• Advanced SQL expertise and experience optimizing large-scale data transformations
• Understanding of automated testing, CI/CD, modular design, observability, and governance
• Experience building scalable data models in distributed or cloud-based architectures
• Strong communication skills to translate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
• Interest in AI, ML, or intelligent automation initiatives
• Knowledge of data architecture principles, modeling patterns, and analytics engineering best practices
• Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI
• Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States
• Willingness and ability to travel to and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations as business needs require
