Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking an experienced HEOR/Data Analytics professional to drive real-world evidence studies across therapeutic areas. You will leverage in-licensed data assets, analyze large datasets, and generate insights for portfolio strategies.

The role requires advanced health economics expertise, SAS proficiency, and strong communication. You will partner with cross-functional teams to advance research objectives and maintain internal analytic tools.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in health economics or related discipline.
  • Typically 6 years of relevant health economics/ORE experience.
  • Knowledge of observational research methods for disease burden and outcomes.
  • Experience with large patient-level healthcare datasets (claims, EHR).
  • Familiarity with national healthcare coding systems.
  • Strong SAS programming and Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize disease burden and treatment patterns in real-world populations.
  • Generate actionable insights for internal/external stakeholders.
  • Lead development of study protocols and analysis plans.
  • Support statistical programmers with data queries and analyses.
  • Create analytic reports, tables, and visualizations for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve analytics operating model.
  • Develop/enhance internal analytic tools and templates.
  • Support HEOR leads in identifying research gaps and objectives.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:


  • Leverage Vertex's in-licensed RWE data assets to conduct queries and analyses supporting the Vertex product portfolio and development programs across therapeutic and disease areas.

  • Conduct feasibility assessments to inform design/execution of research projects.

  • Conduct health economic and outcomes research to characterize disease burden, healthcare resource utilization, co-morbidities, and treatment patterns in real-world populations.

  • Generate actionable insights to address key business questions from internal and external stakeholders.

  • Lead development of study protocols, statistical analysis plans, and table shells.

  • Support statistical programmers by executing data queries and analyses.

  • Generate analytic reports, tables, and visualizations to communicate findings to internal stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to improve the analytics operating model.

  • Develop/enhance/maintain internal analytic tools (e.g., programming libraries, reusable macros, table templates).

  • Support HEOR disease/asset leads in assessing research gaps and evidence generation objectives.


Qualifications:


  • Advanced degree in health economics or related discipline (math, statistics, economics, epidemiology).

  • Typically 6 years of relevant experience in health economics and outcomes research (or equivalent: Doctorate + 2 years; Master’s + 4 years).

  • Knowledge of observational research methods for studies of disease burden, resource utilization, treatment patterns, comorbidities, and outcomes.

  • Hands-on experience analyzing large patient-level healthcare datasets (open/closed claims, EHR/EMR, hospital chargemaster; e.g., MarketScan, PharMetrics Plus, eLAAD+, Premier).

  • Working knowledge of national healthcare coding systems (diagnostic, procedure, drug) and healthcare system structures.

  • Advanced proficiency in SAS programming and Excel required.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects across therapeutic areas.
