Job summary

EnergyX is seeking an Analytical Chemistry Technician to support plant operations with high-quality analyses and data integrity. The role involves collaboration with plant scientists, instrument-driven analyses (ICP-OES, FAAS, TOC, NMR), and rigorous calibration and QC processes.

This contract position runs through November 2026 with benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance. Day and night shifts are required, and safety culture is a priority.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in analytical chemistry, chemistry, or related field, or at least two years of experience in an analytical chemistry setting.
  • Strong understanding of: Serial dilutions and preparation of calibration curves
  • Sample dilutions, limits of detection, and limits of quantitation.
  • Familiarity with basic statistical concepts in analytical chemistry (RSD, percent error, percent recovery).
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet tools such as Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with plant scientists and operators to support experimental design and process optimization.
  • Perform analyses using ICP-OES, FAAS, TOC, benchtop NMR, automated titration systems, and other techniques.
  • Prepare and maintain calibration standard solutions for calibration curves and QC checks.
  • Structure analytical batches with QC checks to ensure data integrity.
  • Perform careful data review before reporting results.
  • Adhere to SOPs for all testing processes.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Place order requests for chemicals and supplies for instrument operation.
  • Manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture in the laboratory.
  • Keep the laboratory workspace clean, organized, and well-maintained.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in analytical chemistry, chemistry, or related field
At least two years of experience in an analytical chemistry setting

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Analytical Chemistry Technician to support plant operations by performing high-quality analyses and contributing to the overall success of our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will 1) be a team player, 2) possess strong technical skills, 3) have a commitment to maintaining the safety culture, and 4) thrive in a dynamic environment. Before applying for this position, it is important to understand the following:

  • This is a contract position due to remain through November 2026 (but may extend after this period). Benefits are available with this position (medical, dental, and vision).
  • Day and Night shifts will be necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with plant scientists and operators to provide analytical chemistry support for experimental design and process optimization.
  • Perform timely analysis of samples using ICP-OES, flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS), total organic carbon (TOC) analysis, benchtop NMR spectroscopy, automated titration systems, and other analytical techniques as required.
  • Prepare and maintain calibration standard solutions for calibration curves and QC checks.
  • Structure analytical batches with proper quality control checks to ensure data integrity.
  • Perform careful data review before reporting results.
  • Adhere to established standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all testing processes.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment/instrumentation as required.
  • Place order requests for chemicals and supplies necessary for instrument operation and sample analysis.
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently to meet tight deadlines.
  • Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety in the laboratory.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and well-maintained laboratory workspace.
Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in analytical chemistry, chemistry, or related field, OR at least two years of experience in an analytical chemistry setting.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Serial dilutions and preparation of calibration curves
    • Sample dilutions, limits of detection, and limits of quantitation.
  • Familiarity with basic statistical concepts in analytical chemistry, including coefficient of determination, relative standard deviation, percent error, and percent recovery.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet tools such as Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and stay organized in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with analysis of metals in solution using instrumental techniques such as ICP, FAAS, NMR, or similar instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in accurate pipetting techniques for solution preparation.
  • Experience with coding (Excel functions, Python, Google Apps Script) and/or automation is a plus but not a must-have.
