Job summary

Sirius Staffing is seeking an Analytical Scientist for a contract assignment in Piscataway, NJ. The role involves analytical method development, lab testing, documentation, and supporting pharmaceutical research and customer projects. Expect handling hazardous waste with initial and annual training provided.

Schedule: Mon–Fri 8a-5p. Responsibilities include method development, sample analysis, report writing, and presenting analytical work.

Qualifications

• Experience in analytical method development and lab testing.
• Experience operating analytical instrumentation (HPLC, dissolution).
• Experience with polymers and/or solid dosage forms analysis.
• Ability to develop technical reports and maintain detailed records.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analytical method development for customer and internal projects.
• Analyze samples for customer and internal research projects.

• Prepare and deliver presentations on analytical work.
• Troubleshoot analytical projects involving polymers and solid dosage forms.
• Operate instrumentation (HPLC, dissolution, DSC, IR, microscopy, SEM).
• Maintain a clean, organized analytical laboratory and equipment.
• Coordinate with vendors and order lab supplies and materials.
• Support EHS activities and safety program documentation.
• Maintain documentation for controlled substances and DEA requirements.
• Coordinate substance destruction with reverse distributors.
• Communicate with regulatory officials as needed.
• Perform quarterly security checks for controlled substance cages and safes.

Job description

Sirius Staffing is seeking an experienced Analytical Scientist for a contract assignment in Piscataway, NJ. This role is responsible for analytical method development, laboratory testing, technical documentation, and supporting research and customer projects in a pharmaceutical environment. This position may require handling hazardous waste. Initial and annual training will be provided in hazardous waste management and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct analytical method development for customer and internal projects.
• Analyze samples for customer and internal research projects.
• Develop technical reports and maintain detailed records of analytical methods.
• Prepare and deliver presentations on analytical work.
• Troubleshoot customer analytical projects, primarily involving polymers and solid dosage forms .
• Operate analytical instrumentation, including:
  • HPLC — assay, related substances, and degradants
  • Dissolution — USP, UV Varian, and fiber optic
  • Content uniformity
  • DSC
  • Optical microscopy
  • SEM
  • IR spectrophotometer
• Maintain a clean and organized analytical laboratory and equipment.
• Contact vendors and order laboratory supplies and raw materials.
• Perform and coordinate industrial hygiene programs related to potent compounds and other hazardous agents.
• Support EHS activities, including committee participation and site safety meetings.
• Develop and maintain safety and industrial hygiene procedures and standards.
• Receive, store, dispense, ship, and maintain records for Schedule II–IV controlled substances .
• Prepare, maintain, ship, and order DEA Form 222 .
• Maintain and renew state and federal DEA licenses.
• Coordinate controlled substance destruction with a reverse distributor.
• Maintain inventory records for DEA-related APIs, excipients, reference standards, and raw materials.
• Communicate with local and federal DEA officials as needed.
• Perform and document quarterly security system checks for controlled substance cages and safes.
• Ensure appropriate security controls are in place for shipping and receiving controlled substances.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Experience with analytical method development and lab testing
• Experience operating analytical laboratory instrumentation, including HPLC and dissolution testing .
• Experience with analytical testing of polymers and/or solid dosage forms is applicable to the work.
• Ability to develop technical reports and maintain detailed analytical records.
• Ability to troubleshoot analytical problems and support customer projects.
• Ability to maintain organized laboratory practices and documentation.
• Ability to work with hazardous materials and follow applicable safety procedures.
• Ability to manage and maintain documentation related to controlled substances and DEA requirements.
• Ability to communicate with internal teams, vendors, and regulatory officials as required.
