Sirius Staffing is seeking an experienced Analytical Scientist for a contract assignment in Piscataway, NJ. This role is responsible for analytical method development, laboratory testing, technical documentation, and supporting research and customer projects in a pharmaceutical environment. This position may require handling hazardous waste. Initial and annual training will be provided in hazardous waste management and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct analytical method development for customer and internal projects.
- Analyze samples for customer and internal research projects.
- Develop technical reports and maintain detailed records of analytical methods.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on analytical work.
- Troubleshoot customer analytical projects, primarily involving polymers and solid dosage forms .
- Operate analytical instrumentation, including:
- HPLC — assay, related substances, and degradants
- Dissolution — USP, UV Varian, and fiber optic
- Content uniformity
- DSC
- Optical microscopy
- SEM
- IR spectrophotometer
- Maintain a clean and organized analytical laboratory and equipment.
- Contact vendors and order laboratory supplies and raw materials.
- Perform and coordinate industrial hygiene programs related to potent compounds and other hazardous agents.
- Support EHS activities, including committee participation and site safety meetings.
- Develop and maintain safety and industrial hygiene procedures and standards.
- Receive, store, dispense, ship, and maintain records for Schedule II–IV controlled substances .
- Prepare, maintain, ship, and order DEA Form 222 .
- Maintain and renew state and federal DEA licenses.
- Coordinate controlled substance destruction with a reverse distributor.
- Maintain inventory records for DEA-related APIs, excipients, reference standards, and raw materials.
- Communicate with local and federal DEA officials as needed.
- Perform and document quarterly security system checks for controlled substance cages and safes.
- Ensure appropriate security controls are in place for shipping and receiving controlled substances.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Experience with analytical method development and lab testing
- Experience operating analytical laboratory instrumentation, including HPLC and dissolution testing .
- Experience with analytical testing of polymers and/or solid dosage forms is applicable to the work.
- Ability to develop technical reports and maintain detailed analytical records.
- Ability to troubleshoot analytical problems and support customer projects.
- Ability to maintain organized laboratory practices and documentation.
- Ability to work with hazardous materials and follow applicable safety procedures.
- Ability to manage and maintain documentation related to controlled substances and DEA requirements.
- Ability to communicate with internal teams, vendors, and regulatory officials as required.
