Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related science.
  • 6–12 months analytical QC lab experience in regulated setting.
  • Hands-on HPLC operation, sample prep, data interpretation, troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret methods, specs, COAs, and determine material acceptance.
  • Strong detail orientation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear written/verbal communication; proficient with MS Office & QC software.
  • Familiarity with FDA cGMP requirements (21 CFR Part 111).

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Analytical QC Chemist is responsible for performing analytical testing and quality assurance activities to ensure that raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and packaging components meet established quality standards. This position supports the manufacture of nutritional supplements and cosmetic products by conducting laboratory analyses, maintaining regulatory compliance, and participating in Quality Assurance functions in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), strong analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of quality systems within FDA-regulated manufacturing environments.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, stability samples, and cleaning validation samples.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate HPLC systems for quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Conduct analytical testing using HPLC, UV-Vis spectroscopy, pH, moisture analysis, density, viscosity, titration, FTIR, and other laboratory instrumentation as required.
  • Prepare standards, reagents, mobile phases, and laboratory solutions.
  • Review analytical data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications.
  • Investigate out-of-specification (OOS), out-of-trend (OOT), and atypical analytical results.
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks, electronic records, and test documentation in compliance with cGMP and data integrity requirements.
  • Assist in method verification, validation, and transfer activities.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper calibration and preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure laboratory cleanliness and compliance with safety policies.
  • Review batch production records and laboratory documentation for completeness and GMP compliance.
  • Perform line clearances and production area inspections.
  • Review and approve Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and laboratory records.
  • Participate in internal audits, supplier qualification activities, and regulatory inspections.
  • Assist with deviation investigations, CAPA implementation, change controls, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor compliance with FDA cGMP regulations for dietary supplements (21 CFR Part 111) and cosmetic quality systems.
  • Support product release decisions through review of analytical and manufacturing documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and laboratory efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • At least 6 months to a year of analytical quality-control laboratory experience within a pharmaceutical, dietary supplement, cosmetic, food, or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience independently operating HPLC systems, including sample preparation, system suitability, data interpretation, and chromatographic troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret analytical methods, specifications, test results, and Certificates of Analysis and determine whether materials or products meet established requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple testing priorities and deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, laboratory software, and electronic quality systems.
  • Experience executing or supporting analytical method validation, verification, or transfer activities.
  • Familiarity with additional analytical techniques such as UV-Vis, FTIR, titration, pH, moisture, density, or viscosity testing.
  • Knowledge of FDA cGMP requirements, including 21 CFR Part 111 for dietary supplements.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • Must be able to sit/stand for 8 hours.
  • Walking, bending, light lifting up to 50 lbs.
