Job summary

Tennessee Valley Authority is seeking a Senior Laboratory Technician to perform chemical and physical property determinations in support of customer requests. You will prepare samples, analyze them with various instruments, and ensure data is accurately entered into the LIMS under supervision.

Responsibilities include maintenance, training, and adherence to QA and safety standards. You may work rotating shifts, including weekends or nights, and travel to remote sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Two year degree in a laboratory field or certificate with two years of lab experience.
  • Willing and medically qualified to sit/stand for long periods and rotate shifts.
  • Ability to lift and handle materials as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample preparation following general instructions and manage problems.
  • Analyze samples for constituents using techniques/instruments requiring calibration and interpretation.
  • Load routines, run instruments, and transfer data to the LIMS; reviewed for accuracy.
  • May operate on rotating schedule including weekends and nights, and travel to remote locations to support customers.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Train others to prepare samples and operate laboratory equipment.
  • Wash/clean glassware and laboratory equipment after use.
  • Communicate quality and productivity concerns to chemist or supervisor.
  • Meet all quality assurance and safety requirements.
  • Perform other tasks as instructed by chemist or supervisor.
