** Position could also be placed as a Supervisor Trainee based on experience

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Be responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system
  • Oversee laboratory personnel assuring these individuals understand their duties and responsibilities
  • Provide direction, give feedback to lab personnel, perform evaluations of their performance and assist in growth development
  • Interview and select new lab employees, and play an integral part in promotions as well as transfers
  • Be responsible for the training and safety of all chemists, and for the job utilization of the chemists in the workplace
  • Exhibit excellent judgement, maturity and knowledge to successfully react to problems and make decisions
  • Make timely decisions about batch product, are required to calculate and write batch corrections and when necessary to act as a coordinator between Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Division in making correction decisions
  • Additionally, when problems arise in the lab with tests or testing equipment, the supervisor plays an integral role in troubleshooting the problem and in finding logical solutions
  • Assure compliance to Regulations, Lab Methods, Policies and Procedures
  • Oversee all test results, lab documentation and are responsible for the accuracy of the documentation required to support production
  • Assure the tests meet specified limits of precision, accuracy and testing time
  • Prepare disposition recommendations when standard and specifications are not met, and additionally carry out Lab Method audits, GMP audits and Safety audits
  • Support all budgetary goals; ensure labor, expense, OPI, material usage and assigned spending goals are maintained maximizing effectiveness and minimizing cost impact to all facets of the operation
  • Additionally, Analytical Lab Supervisors are on call during weekends to support lab personnel and manufacturing

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, food technology, technical or 5+ years of experience in a laboratory in a regulated industry with preference being for food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals
  • A knowledge of food processing techniques, laboratory procedures, testing and statistics
