Job summary

Hims in Columbus, OH is seeking an Analytical Chemist with at least 5 years of analytical chemistry experience, including method development and validation. The role requires travel to Arizona and third-party laboratory partner sites as needed.

You will collaborate with external testing labs to support commercialization, develop and validate analytical methods for APIs, excipients and peptides, and analyze data to support R&D, process validation batches, and technology transfers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical chemistry, preferably in pharma with method development/validation.
  • Proficiency in HPLC, GC, IR, UV, MS, and dissolution testing.
  • Experience handling multi-analyte dosage forms (tablets, chews, gummies, topicals, sterile injectables).
  • Experience developing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation.
  • Understanding of GLP/GMP.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with external labs to support commercialization with timely analytical results.
  • Develop, qualify, and validate analytical methods for APIs, excipients, and peptides.
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and document findings for R&D and validation batches.
  • Create and maintain technical documents (SOPs, test methods, validation reports).
  • Ensure GLP/GMP compliance and up-to-date documentation.
  • Collaborate with R&D, operations, QA and PM to support product development and transfers.
  • Prepare documentation supporting R&D testing strategy to minimize risk and protect patient safety.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in processes and data quality.

Job description

Job Title: Analytical Chemist

Location: Columbus, OH with travel to Arizona and third-party laboratory partner sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Third-Party Collaboration: Partner with qualified external testing laboratories to support commercialization efforts, ensuring accurate, reliable, and timely analytical testing results.
  • Analytical Method Development: Support and conduct the development, qualification and validation of analytical methods for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), supplemental ingredients and peptides, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze data, interpret results, and document findings to support R&D development activities, process validation batches, equipment validations, formula optimizations, site and technology transfers.
  • Technical Writing & Documentation: Develop, edit, and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation (SOPs, test methods, validation reports, and specifications) to support R&D and Operations functions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all analytical activities adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with R&D analytical, project management, R&D formulation, operations and quality teams to support product development and troubleshoot issues.
  • Analytical Strategy: Prepare documentation that supports the R&D testing strategy for new and existing products to minimize risk and ensure patient safety.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and data quality.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical chemistry, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry with a focus on method development and validation.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, IR, UV, MS, and dissolution testing.
  • Experience with testing multi-analyte dosage forms such as tablets, chews, gummies, topicals and sterile injectables.
  • Experience developing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation.
  • Understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and collaborative setting.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Microbiological experience is a plus.
  • Experience with compounded pharmaceutical products (sterile & non-sterile).
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms and digital health solutions.
