Job summary

Battelle seeks a Chemist I to join our team at the WDTC in Utah, supporting government laboratory chemistry and analytical operations. The role requires a degree in chemistry, physical science, or engineering and hands-on lab experience, with proficiency in GC, spectroscopy, and QA/QC practices.

You will work with toxic materials and operate advanced instrumentation, diagnose issues, and implement methods under guidance. Flexibility for shifts and a strong safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree in chemistry, physical science, or engineering with lab experience.
  • Ability to generate, evaluate data and design experiments.
  • Proficient with gas chromatography, spectroscopy, or analytical instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC procedures and data handling.

Responsibilities

  • Work with or around highly toxic materials.
  • Operate analytical instrumentation (GC, MS).
  • Diagnose instrument problems and perform routine repairs.
  • Resolve instrumentation issues following QC procedures.
  • Apply methods as directed by senior staff and document results.
