Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a scientist to support proficiency testing and regulatory science programs for federal food safety initiatives. The role involves detection, characterization, and quantification of chemical contaminants and biothreat agents across diverse food matrices using GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, and HPLC.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemistry or related field.
• 3–6 years of lab research experience in analytical chemistry, pharma, environmental, or food safety.
• Experience operating GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, or HPLC.
• Experience with proficiency testing, method validation, and data interpretation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a federal/public trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and apply analytical chemistry methods and related instrumentation for detection and quantification of chemical constituents and contaminants.
• Conduct laboratory experiments to assess homogeneity, stability, and distribution across food matrices.
• Prepare samples for proficiency testing studies and interlaboratory exercises.
• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for regulatory and food safety applications.
• Analyze study data in accordance with ISO 17043, ISO 13528, ISO 5725, FDA and other standards.
• Generate technical summaries, reports, and scientific documentation to support FDA programs.
