Job summary

Blue Nile in New York, NY seeks an Analyst of Strategic Finance (FP&A) to partner with operations and merchandising leaders, drive margin optimization, and support scenario modeling for promotions and product launches.

You will build financial models, oversee budgets, and deliver executive reports, contributing to automation of reporting and improving decision-making across the organization. 1–3 years of experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in Excel are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business, or a technical field.
• 1-3 years of advisory/consulting, or investment banking, FP&A, strategy, or technical analytics role.
• Advanced MS Excel; proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with SAP, PowerBI, or Tableau; Knowledge of SQL/Python is a plus.
• Retail/CPG industry knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial performance against plans and forecasts, identifying gaps and providing actionable insights.
• Develop and enhance financial models, processes, and reporting to support evolving planning requirements.
• Oversee budgets across Operations, Merchandising, and Technology; track costs vs forecasts and flag deviations.
• Assess performance metrics for leadership teams, delivering streamlined reports with actionable commentary.
• Drive topline growth and cost-efficiency initiatives by identifying savings opportunities and monitoring impact.
• Prepare and deliver presentations to Leadership Team with in-depth performance analysis.
• Support data transformation initiatives and ad hoc projects as needed.

This role serves as a key business partner to the Operations and Merchandising teams, working cross-functionally to provide valuable insights that enhance strategic decision-making. Collaborating closely with Operations leadership, including the COO, this individual will help optimize margin drivers, improve cost structures, and advance business performance.
