Job summary

American Airlines is seeking an Analyst/Sr Analyst, Digital Product Owner in Fort Worth, TX to lead product initiatives within the Ancillary Offers team under the Digital Customer Experience Organization. You will translate business goals into technical requirements and drive value across the customer journey.

The role requires collaboration with CEID, IT, UX and Analytics, agile practices, and a focus on improving day-of-travel experiences while managing IT backlogs and stakeholder expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience/training.
  • Understanding of how American’s systems interact with each other (i.e. Sabre, ITA, eTDS, etc.)
  • 3 years relevant work experience, preferably in e-commerce.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with CEID, IT, UX and Analytics to understand customer behavior and improve experiences.
  • Develops and enhances applications to support products while aligning with the day-of-travel and overall travel experience.
  • Keeps stakeholders informed and communicates outcomes, learnings, and changes as teams work toward objectives.
  • Conducts competitive benchmarking to research new technologies, identify gaps, and discover opportunities.
  • Participates in Agile ceremonies—grooming, iteration planning, stand-ups—and uses Agile product management tools.
  • Translates business objectives into technical specs by creating backlog of user stories.
  • Manages IT backlog to ensure teams focus on high-impact objectives.
  • Operates within the DevOps model, troubleshooting issues and prioritizing defect fixes.
  • Partners with IT architects and technical leads to deliver customer value quickly while reducing costs.
  • Leads demonstrations of new software to update stakeholders; partners with other units to write/accept user stories.

This role is on the Ancillary Offers team under the Digital Customer Experience Organization. The Ancillary team is responsible for driving the strategy and implementation of American’s portfolio of Ancillary products including Bags, Seats, Instant Upsell, and more. This team works closely with stakeholders across the enterprise to implement new technology, improve the customer experience, and significantly contribute to American’s profitability by optimizing passenger revenue throughout the customer journey. Successful candidates will be comfortable delving into technical topics, producing thoughtful analysis, and driving work to meet objective-based outcomes.

  • Collaborates and works closely with internal partners from CEID, IT, UX and Analytics to understand customer behavior and create great customer experiences.
  • Develops and enhances applications and features as a way to support other products in meeting their goals and objectives, while ensuring experiences align with vision for day of travel and consider the holistic travel experience.
  • Keeps stakeholders informed and communicates outcomes, learnings, and changes as teams work toward objectives.
  • Conducts competitive benchmarking to research new technologies, identify gaps, and discover opportunities to enhance the customer experience.
  • Is part of the team that manages the development and implementation of new day of travel features and tools. This includes taking part in Agile ceremonies—grooming, iteration planning, stand-ups and using Agile product management tools.
  • Translates business objectives into technical specifications by creating a backlog of clearly written and well defined user stories.
  • Manages IT backlog to ensure teams are focused on the highest impact efforts to achieve defined objectives and key results.
  • Operates within the DevOps model, helping troubleshoot technical issues and prioritizing defect fixes and small enhancements among larger feature efforts.
  • Partners closely with IT architects and technical leads to develop solutions that deliver customer value quickly while reducing ongoing operational costs.
  • Leads ongoing demonstrations of new software to update stakeholders and team members on new features and functionality. As needed, partner with other business units to write and accept user stories, ensuring technical and business requirements are met.

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience/training

  • Mobile and travel/airline experience
